🌱 Farm to School Institute Success! 🌾
What an incredible day at the Farm to School Institute, held Monday, October 13th! Educators, community partners, and agricultural leaders came together with one shared goal — to strengthen the connection between our schools, students, and local food systems.
We were joined by so many amazing partners, including:
🥕 WVDE Office of Child Nutrition
🥬 Refresh Appalachia
🍎 Tyler and Wetzel County School participants
🌽 Local farmers
🍅 WV Department of Agriculture (WVDA)
🥦 Family Resource Networks (FRNs)
🍠 WVU Extension
🍓 Farmers Market Managers
…and many more passionate individuals working to grow the Farm to School movement!
A huge thank you to Chef Gary and his student team for preparing a wonderful breakfast, snacks, and lunch featuring fresh, local ingredients — truly farm to fork!
Throughout the day, participants explored topics such as:
• Marketing and Promotion
• High Tunnels
• Building and Utilizing Partnerships
• Food Preparation, Safety, and Growing for Cafeterias
Together, we’re cultivating stronger partnerships, supporting local agriculture, and expanding opportunities for our students to learn and thrive. 💚
