Below you will find Tyler County School’s protocol for student searches moving forward.
As superintendent, I would like to apologize to students that the previous search caused anxiety and unanticipated stress. However, I am very concerned for students’ safety and will address the problem actively until it is under control. It is my responsibility to ensure that all students have a safe and harmless learning environment in which to grow. Please understand this will always be my top priority as Tyler County Schools, superintendent.
Therefore, after having time to reflect on the previous search and collaborate with county office staff, parents, and Tyler County Board of Education, I have created these procedures to use when doing random searches in our schools. I am sure you have all heard, “It takes a village” we need to all work together as educators, parents, and community members to create a safe, academically challenging, and inviting environment for our students grow.
