Thank you to Sgt. Haines, WV Natural Resources Police Officer, for coming to speak to our students today in some ELA and DYF classes. He spoke with students about his education, daily responsibilities, and shared how important it is to find a job you love to do. We very much appreciate your time and willingness to speak with our students!

Our 8th grade students had an incredible opportunity to explore their future at the Mid Ohio Valley Technical Institute (MOVTI)! This visit gave them a firsthand look at the wide range of career and technical programs they can choose to attend during their junior and senior years of high school.
From hands-on activities like practicing medical skills, working with computer hardware, trying out construction tools, learning what it takes to be a mechanic for automotives including diesel, and even learning about law enforcement procedures, our students gained valuable insight into what each program entails. It was a fun, eye-opening experience that sparked curiosity and excitement about future possibilities.

A group of our TASK students have launched a new initiative called "Be The Change," a peer-led anti-bullying campaign. Today, four middle school students—Kaylin Eastham, Luke Moore, Chloe Kinsey, and Skyla Shields—met with 5th grade students at Boreman Elementary, spent lunch with them, and led an informative session filled with engaging activities. This effort has been nothing short of inspiring. These students came up with the idea entirely on their own and took the initiative to lead every part of it. Watching them step up and create such a meaningful experience for younger students has been truly incredible. They will continue their mission next week when they visit 5th graders at Sistersville Elementary on May 15. #KnightsPride
The award-winning TCMS Jazz Bands will be in concert tomorrow evening at 7:00!
Our 6th grade students had a fun-filled field trip to The Highlands Sports Complex! They spent the day shooting hoops, bumping volleyballs, playing whiffle ball on the indoor and outdoor turf fields, scaling the rock climbing wall, and wrapping it all up with some fun in the arcade. A perfect mix of activity, teamwork, and fun to celebrate a successful school year!

Big thanks to Pickering Associates of Parkersburg who came to speak with Mrs. Boso’s and Mrs. Wright’s DYF classes today. They learned a little about the company, the types of jobs they offer and degrees needed, and also participated in a STEM project - rain gutter regatta. Students worked in small groups to design and build a boat using recycled materials. In a little friendly competition, students competed to see whose boat would make it to one end from the other the quickest. Congrats to our winning group of Wyatt, Carter, Bryson, Jarrett, and Kaden!
DATE CHANGE: The 2025 TCMS Athletic Banquet, hosted by the TCMS Boosters, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 20th at 6:00 PM. Be sure to update your calendars—we can’t wait to celebrate our student-athletes with you!

The TCMS Jazz Band performed at Arts Alive in the Cultural Center last Friday in Charleston. Arts Alive is the West Virginia Department of Education’s annual event to showcase outstanding arts education and student achievements in public schools. Both the TCMS and TCHS jazz bands will be performing in concert this Thursday, May 8th at 7:00.
Today our 8th grade class went on their field trip to Kennywood in Pittsburgh, PA, for their Education Day. They had a blast!
The lines were short, the weather was great, and the kids spent the day riding rides, hanging out with friends, and enjoying everything the park had to offer. It was the perfect way to make some lasting memories before the end of the school year.

Students in Mrs Weekley's 7th grade honors math class used proportional reasoning and shadow length to determine the height of the flag pole out front. Every group got between 28 and 35 feet, which seems reasonable.

This award recognizes students who consistently demonstrate hard work, responsibility, and leadership throughout the grading period. These students have gone above and beyond, setting a positive example for their peers. We have two KOTRT award winners for each grade level:
