Today, we wrapped up Spirit Week at TCMS with our annual Halloween celebration and games! Huge thanks to Mrs. Strode and our NJHS students for organizing – they put together a fun-filled series of games where each grade competed for the title of overall champion. Also, thank you to Ms. Andexler and our Student Council students for organizing the staff cake walk, where Mr. Cooper won himself a chocolate cake!
After some fierce (and festive!) competition, we’re excited to crown our 6th graders as the 2024 Halloween Games champions! The costumes were so creative, and we all had an amazing time wrapping up the week together! #KnightsPride

After-School Tutoring schedule for November. Please call the school if you would like your child to stay for additional academic support.

Today, our 7th graders took a journey through history at the Moundsville Penitentiary and Grave Creek Mound! From exploring the storied halls of the old penitentiary to hiking up the historic mound, our students got a hands-on lesson in West Virginia’s past. It was a day filled with curiosity, adventure, and memories!

Attention 7th Grade Parents/Guardians,
Just a quick reminder that the 7th grade field trip to the Moundsville Penitentiary and Grave Creek Mound is tomorrow, October 29th! Please make sure your student is prepared for the day:
-Bring a jacket to stay warm – it will be chilly in the morning!
-Remember to pack a lunch if your student is bringing one from home.
-A reminder that all school rules will still apply on the trip, including our no cell phone policy.
We’re looking forward to a fun and educational experience! Thanks for helping us make it a great day for our students!

What a fun school year it's been so far for two of our seventh graders! Wesley Wayne and Brooklyn Snider got to hang out with some creepy-crawly friends from the Olgebay Zoo's "Zoo to You" Program, and even got to visit the Middle Island Harvest Festival! But the fun doesn't stop there - they've also been enjoying story time with librarian, Rosanne Eastham, and complete fun activities and crafts! We're so proud of Ms. Cooper's students and can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings!

Don't forget that this week will be Spirit Week at TCMS! Below, you will find the schedule with our daily themes. On Thursday, we will hold a pep rally at the end of the school day to cheer on our football team as they prepare to host Doddridge County in the LKC Championship Game. On Friday, we will spend the afternoon in the gym for our Halloween celebration. Students are encouraged to bring their costume to wear! Please be advised that masks and/or weapons will not be permitted. Get your outfits ready to show off your school spirit next week! #KnightsPride

Our TASK students had an incredible time at the Annual WVU Pumpkin Drop today! After weeks of preparation, where they practiced designing and building protective structures for their pumpkins, our students finally got to put their designs to the test. The goal was to keep their pumpkins from breaking after being dropped from the roof of the 11-story WVU engineering building. The event was filled with excitement, teamwork, and learning as the students applied problem-solving skills and creativity to see whose pumpkin could survive the fall. They even got to meet the Mountaineer! We are so proud of their hard work and dedication—well done, TASK students and Mr. Maiden! #KnightsPride

Parents/Guardians: All students will receive their first 9-weeks report cards to take home at the end of the day today, Friday, October 25.

A huge thanks to one of our incredible custodians, Linda Kile, for decorating our hallways with the 6 Pillars of our Character Counts program: Responsibility, Fairness, Respect, Citizenship, Caring, and Trustworthiness.
These core values reinforce the importance of character education in shaping responsible and respectful student leaders. Having these values on display serves as a simple but effective way to keep character building at the forefront of students’ minds every day. #KnightsPride

Today, students took a drone flight over Reykjanes Peninsula in southwest Iceland. According to the drone expert, the volcano is expected to erupt again at any time. Students had the chance to control the drone themselves. Enjoy some pictures taken by some of the students in Mrs. Wright’s DYF class! What an awesome experience!

Congratulations to the CTE programs at TCMS and TCHS for receiving an impressive score of 99 out of 100 points on the Certified EOY 24 Data! This is a remarkable improvement from the 86 points achieved the year before, and it reflects the continued dedication and hard work of everyone involved.

Students in Mr. Weber's Health class had the opportunity to learn and use AEDs today! Thank you for teaching life saving skills to our students!

Today, our 6th graders enjoyed a day on Blennerhassett Island in Parkersburg, WV! They had the opportunity to learn about some local history and were able to explore the restored mansion. They took a sternwheeler ride to the island and had the chance to explore the grounds, discovering more about life in the early 1800s. It was a great experience that brought history to life outside the classroom! #KnightsPride
