The Tyler Consolidated High School cross country team competed in the Roberts Running XC Festival at Cabell Midland this past weekend. The unique night race gave our runners the opportunity to compete on the same challenging course that will host the WVSSAC State Cross Country Championships later this season. Senior Travis Moore led the way with an outstanding performance, winning the men's race with a time of 16:56.51! Brody Nice earned a top-20 finish, placing 19th in 19:10.93, while Trey Moore also brought home a medal with a 35th-place finish in 20:01.29. Farm to School is all about bringing fresh, local food straight from our community to students’ plates!

Tyler FFA students are getting their hands dirty shucking fresh sweet corn from Middle Island Meadows, which school cooks prepared and served to students during lunch.

It’s a great example of agriculture education, student involvement, and local food coming together!

Dear Tyler County School Families,

Staying on top of your child's attendance just got a lot easier.

Starting August 31, 2026, all Tyler County Schools will be using a new text-based system to keep you informed when your child is absent — and to make it simple for you to respond, ask questions, and share notes, all without a phone call.

Here's what's new:
• You'll receive a text when your child is absent. A message will come from the phone number listed below next to your child’s school — save this number in your contacts so you never miss it.
• You can text back directly. Reply to confirm an absence, share the reason, or ask a question. It's that simple.
• You can send photos of notes by text. Need to submit a parent note or a doctor's note? Just take a photo and text it to the same number — no need to drop anything off at the office.
• You can proactively text us. Know that your child will be absent? Send us a text to the number listed below next to your child’s school and we’ll update the record accordingly.

The texts are powered by our AI attendance assistant, every response goes directly to our attendance team, and your child's record is updated accordingly.

If you have questions or need help, please reach out to your child’s school. We're grateful for your partnership and committed to making every school day count.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Melinda Walton
