Five TCHS Band members attended the 6th Annual WVU Brass Academy at the College of Creative Arts and Media in Morgantown this week. Keelin Yeater, Caleb Gist, Sam Thorn, Michael Cooper, and Ty Camerlin participated in private and small-group lessons while also rehearsing with several ensembles throughout the week, all led by WVU faculty. The intensive week-long academy culminated in a concert today, where students showcased their hard work and talent for family and friends. Congratulations to these outstanding musicians for representing TCHS so well! #KnightsPride

Congratulations to Mrs. Jones on being named Tyler County Schools Teacher of the Year! Yesterday evening, Superintendent Highley recognized Mrs. Jones at the Tyler County Schools Board of Education meeting, joined by her family, to celebrate this honor! Your health is your wealth. These are the words that Mrs. Jones leads with in designing and delivering meaningful and impactful lessons on health education. Inside Mrs. Jones's health classes she prioritizes that students have the opportunity to grow, not just for the care for themselves, but their care for others as well. Providing students with educational opportunities that extend well beyond the walls of her classroom, Mrs. Jones always puts the students of Tyler Consolidated High School first. She is an essential support, a teacher leader, and has led many unique opportunities for students to have impactful learning experiences that they can carry with them for years to come. With a big heart, strong passion, and the utmost care, Mrs. Jones is an excellent reflection on educators providing the best for their students. We thank her for all that she does and are so proud of her! #KnightsPride

Each semester groups of 20 from Mrs. Jones health classes have had the opportunity to go speak with inmates at the St. Mary's Correctional Center, eat at the station, and visit The Smith's Candy store. This trip is about choices and how the choices that you make-even if it's only one time can change the trajectory of your life. We all have the chance to grow from listening to others who have taken different paths before us. It's important to discuss past mistakes so we can reflect on our choices and make changes for the future. We would like to thank the St. Mary's Correctional Center for having us, the hospitality of the Station, and Smith's Candy, the board of education for the student's lunch, and Terry Vancamp for driving us. The students really enjoyed the trip and everyone did a great job ordering out! #KnightsPride
